5 days ago … Even more surprising? CBS announced that Mark Harmon is also returning to the franchise in the exact same week. Weatherly already did 13 seasons …
Well, folks, it’s official! Mark Harmon and Michael Weatherly are dusting off their badges and reuniting on the CBS series NCIS: Origins. After a whole decade apart—because apparently, the world needed a break from their charm—the duo is back together, and I couldn’t be more excited. It’s like reuniting with an old friend who still owes you money but you’re just happy to see them again.
For those who have been living under a rock—or perhaps just binge-watching every season of The Office—Mark Harmon is reprising his iconic role as Leroy Jethro Gibbs, the grumpy yet lovable head of the NCIS team. Meanwhile, Michael Weatherly will return as the ever-charming Tony DiNozzo, who is essentially a walking punchline with a badge. Together, they will grace our screens once again in an episode set to air on October 20th. Mark your calendars, folks; this is a date you don’t want to miss unless you have something really important planned, like a dentist appointment.
Now, let’s talk about what this reunion means. First off, it’s a chance for fans to see how their favorite characters have evolved—or, in Gibbs’ case, how he’s managed to become even grumpier. You know, I can’t help but wonder if Gibbs will still be sporting that same stoic expression while DiNozzo tries to crack a joke that’s so bad it deserves its own cringe compilation.
The episode will feature Harmon in a season-long arc, which is like saying, “Hey, we’re going to give you more of what you love!” And let’s be real, who wouldn’t want to see these two back in action? They have a chemistry that could light up a small city. The last time they shared the screen together was back in Season 13—yes, the one where you could still find a Blockbuster store in your neighborhood. The nostalgia is real, people.
What’s also exciting is that NCIS: Origins is set to explore the backstory of the NCIS team, which means we might get some juicy bits about how Gibbs and DiNozzo met, or why Gibbs has such a soft spot for coffee and a hard spot for rules. I mean, seriously, what is it with Gibbs and his seemingly endless supply of coffee? Does he have a secret stash in his desk? Is there a coffee bean conspiracy we don’t know about?
But let’s not forget the elephant in the room: the last decade has seen a lot of changes in the TV landscape. Shows have come and gone, but NCIS has remained a staple, much like that one friend who refuses to leave the party. With Harmon and Weatherly back in the mix, it’s like inviting the life of the party back to your living room.
In conclusion, mark your calendars for October 20th! Get your popcorn ready and prepare for a reunion that’s bound to bring back memories and perhaps a few laughs. Whether you’re a die-hard fan or just someone who appreciates a good buddy cop dynamic, this episode promises to deliver. So, dust off those NCIS memorabilia and get ready to witness the magic of Gibbs and DiNozzo once again. Who knows? Maybe they’ll even solve a case or two while they’re at it.
So, are you as excited as I am? Or are you just here for the coffee? Either way, it’s time to celebrate the return of a classic duo!
