Skip to content TV Shows Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Season 2: Everything You Need To Know Study up here By Joseph McCabe | Published 12:00 PM EST, Apr 21, 2026 Paramount+ Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is the latest Paramount+ original series set within the Star Trek universe.
Hold onto your tricorders, folks! The second and final season of “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” is set to launch in March 2027. Yes, you heard that right—2027! That’s only a few years away, so mark your calendars and set your reminders because this is one intergalactic ride you won’t want to miss.
In a delightful twist of casting fate, two heavy-hitting actors are joining the ranks: Bill Nighy and Rosemarie DeWitt. Now, if you’re wondering why I’m excited about this, let me break it down for you. Bill Nighy, known for his charmingly quirky roles (remember him from “Love Actually”? Of course you do!), will be playing Nyk Ake, the father of Holly Hunter’s character Nahla. Meanwhile, Rosemarie DeWitt will grace our screens as Laytha Sadal, the First Lady of Betazed. Who knew Betazed had a First Lady? I guess they run their own version of a galactic White House—hopefully with fewer scandals and more diplomatic brunches.
The big news was dropped during a panel at New York Comic Con, which, let’s face it, is basically the Super Bowl for nerds. There, the crowd was treated to appearances by none other than William Shatner (the original Captain Kirk himself, folks), and Ben Stiller, who I assume was there to remind us all that not everything in life has to be serious. The presence of these stars definitely added a sprinkle of stardust to the event, making it a must-attend for fans.
But let’s talk about what we can expect from Season 2. If the first season was any indication, we can anticipate a healthy dose of camaraderie, interstellar hijinks, and possibly some awkward teen romances. After all, what’s a coming-of-age story without a little awkwardness, right? I mean, who doesn’t enjoy watching characters navigate the complexities of adolescence while also dealing with alien invasions and warp-speed travel?
And with the addition of Nighy and DeWitt, the stakes are likely to get even higher. Nyk Ake probably has some legendary tales to tell about his days in Starfleet, and let’s be real: who wouldn’t want to hear about the time he accidentally transported into a black hole? As for Laytha Sadal, with a title like “First Lady of Betazed,” you can bet she’s going to have some political drama to bring to the table. Maybe she’ll even have a few zingers ready for the Federation’s next diplomatic mission.
So, get ready to binge-watch your way through the final season of “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” in 2027. In the meantime, you might want to brush up on your Starfleet protocols, just in case you find yourself in a situation that requires you to negotiate peace with a Klingon or two. You know, the usual.
Until then, may your phasers be set to stun, and may your adventures be bold and full of laughter. Engage!
